On March 6, 2019 PTRC and the Southern Maryland Audubon Society had a joint lecture program at the Historic Port Tobacco Courthouse about straw and plastic pollution of our waterways. The documentary we showed was powerful, and our Ocean Guardian School students from J.C. Parks ES and North Point HS presented plastic pollution facts and skits. We were honored to have speakers Paul (Sammy) Orlando from NOAA, and Lisa Laschalt, Charles County’s Director of Environmental Health. We also presented Mary Sandy of the Port Tobacco Marina Restaurant with a case of 800 paper straws in recognition of her commitment to phase out plastic straws at the restaurant. Enjoy pictures from a very informative night!
