Please join us as guest speaker Mr. Rico Newman, local Native American historian, shares insight on Native American life along the Port Tobacco River.
Some focal points of the discussion will include history of Native American settlement in the area near St. Ignatius Church; period technology showing articles used in daily life prior to contact and a brief overview of how items were made from raw materials; archaeological determinations on time lines from the Paleo to Colonial eras; and probable changes in landscape due to early Native use of the land.
The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments, including complimentary beer and wine, will be served.
